Wanda Jean Riddle Carter

Mrs. Wanda Jean Riddle Carter, age 77 of St. Marys, Ga. passed away in Brunswick, Ga. in the early morning hours of  Friday, March 15th, 2019.

  Mrs. Carter was born in Byron, Ga. on March 1st, 1942. She is the daughter of the late Jesse Edwin & Geneva Davis Riddle Smith.

          Mrs. Carter loved to cook for her family. She also loved flowers, jewelry, and a cat named Garfield. She loved fishing and shopping. Mrs. Carter was employed as a housekeeping supervisor at local hotels for many years. She never met a stranger and had many friends she considered family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

          Mrs. Carter is survived by her children, Rex (Julie) Carter of St. Marys, Ga., Jason (Juanita) Carter of Harriett’s Bluff, Ga., and Judson (Rose) Carter of Albany, Ga.; Alvenia “BG” (Jerry) Banks of Brunswick, Ga.; her brothers, Richard & Edwin Riddle both of Baxley, Ga.; her grandchildren, Brett Carter, Megan Carter, Jessica Carter, Lauren Carter, Josh Carter, Jake Carter, Christopher Carter, Cherrie Barlow, four great- grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Joseph Horace Carter and her eldest son, Terrell Joseph Carter. 

          Calling hours for Mrs. Carter will be from 2 to 2:50 pm on Sunday, March 17th, 2019 at the Lighthouse Church of God in St. Marys, Ga. Funeral services will follow there at 3 pm with Pastor Bobby Woods presiding. Interment and committal prayer will follow in the Carter plot at Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Blackshear, Ga. Pallbearers will be Jake Carter, Josh Carter, Brett Carter, Christopher Carter, Tony Strickland, John Bennett, and Honorary pallbearer, Adam Riddle.

    My thoughts and prayers are with all of the family. I have always loved Mrs. Carter so much, and I know that she is laughing and loving being in the presence of our Lord, as well as seeing her beloved Terrell and husband again. Much love to you all, Jason, Rex, Jud, and families.
