Mr. Carl H. Stoeffler, age 82 of St. Marys, Ga. passed away at his residence on the evening of Tuesday, October 2nd, 2018 surrounded by his beloved family.
Mr. Stoeffler was born on February 26th, 1936 in Douglas, Ga. He is the son of the late Norman & Mary Lena Stewart Stoeffler. Carl married the love of his life, Mrs. Shirley Brooks Stoeffler on January 7th, 1956 and they have shared life and love together for over 62 years as husband & wife. Mr. Stoeffler brought his new bride to Camden County, Ga. in April 1956. He was a company man for Gilman Paper Company in St. Marys, Ga., becoming a master paper maker. He retired from there, giving 42 years of faithful service. Mr. Stoeffler was also a master carpenter. His family said of him that he would work a full shift, then come home and build the most beautiful cabinetry, of which he took great pride. That pride was evident in his craftsmanship and attention to detail with the cabinets he installed in various houses in St. Marys. The family said he was forthright in his beliefs and would tackle any problem head on. Among his other interest’s was fishing, especially for red tail bass and flounder gigging. His family called him a man’s man and that he will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.
Mr. Stoeffler is survived by his bride, Shirley; his son, DeWayne (Terisa Irene) Stoeffler of Kingsland, Ga.; his daughters, Cynthia (Paul) Popa of St. Marys, Ga. and Twyla Calhoun of Kingsland, Ga.; his grandchildren, Jennifer Connelly, Brandy Lena Stoeffler, Carl Shane Stoeffler, Cayla Calhoun, Ashley Calhoun, John Michael Calhoun, Jr. Matthew Stoeffler & Olivia Popa; his three great grandchildren & three extra special great grandchildren; his great- great grandchild; and numerous nieces & nephews.
Calling hours for the Stoeffler family will be from 10:30 to 11:45am on Saturday, October 6th, 2018 at Westside Baptist Church; 201 S. Dandy St. in St. Marys, Ga. Funeral services will follow there at 12 noon with Pastors’ David Forro and James Roberson presiding. Interment will be held following the service in Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys, Ga. Dale Brooks, Wayne Caldwell, John Calhoun, Sr., Paul Popa, Webster Steverson, and Lamar Warren will serve as pallbearers.
