Mr. Jean A. Markes, age 79 of Kingsland, Ga. died after a long struggle with Parkinson’s Disease and Dementia. He passed away in the early morning hours of January 23rd, 2018 at Addington Place in Brunswick, Ga.
Mr. Markes was born September 29th, 1938 in Malone, NY to the late Madill Markes and Albertine La Haie. He grew up as an only child in a cold water flat in upper state NY. He was a Navy Veteran of 11 years serving in the Seabees as an electrician. His service included a tour at Operation Deep Freeze in Antarctica. He was an employee of Southern California Edison and retired from there with many friends that knew him as “BADGER”. In retirement, he spent his days on walks around his previous home on Burnham Rd in Ojai CA or at the beach in Ventura.
He is preceded in death by his loving and kind-hearted wife Darlene Markes, and daughters Laurie Markes and Belinda Markes. Mr. Markes is survived by sons John D Markes of Kingsland GA, Jamie Markes of Red Bluff California, daughter Carissa Markes of Weed California and 11 grandchildren.
Mr. Markes’ inurnment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. at a later date.
