Mr. David Christopher Hurtley, age 68, passed away Thursday, March 10th, 2016 at his home in Woodbine, GA.
Mr. Hurtley was born July 11th, 1947 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to the late Adolph and Jan Hansen Hurtley.
Mr. Hurtley was a proud veteran of the U.S Navy who served two tours in the Vietnam War. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, who enjoyed family cookouts, poker games and playing pool with his grandsons. He had an impressive collection of Diecast cars, and could not miss a night of wrestling. He especially enjoyed collecting sea glass off the shores of Hawaii, and had a great story of a near drowning experience, which actually lead to many laughs. He was a simple man, who lived a simple life, who meant so much to so many. He will be greatly missed.
Mr. Hurtley is survived by his sons, Tracy Hurtley and his wife Maggie of Palm Coast, FL., Christopher Hurtley and his wife Jennifer of Kingsland, GA., his daughter, Stacy Shaw and her husband Randy of Chesapeake, VA., his grandchildren, Jacey Richard and her husband Trevor of North Augusta, SC., Austin and Jake Davis both of Chesapeake, VA., Jordan, Abigail, Julia, and Sadie Hurtley all of Kingsland, GA., and his great granddaughter, Tori Richard.
Military services honoring Mr. Hurtley will be held in the Jacksonville National Cemetery, Monday, June 20th at 10:30 in Jacksonville, Florida.
