Mr. Richard Lee Riddell, age 80 of Kingsland, Ga. and Hilliard, Fl. passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Riddell was born in Johnstown, Pa. on July 11, 1934. He is the son of the late Margaret Repp and George Riddell. He joined the military out of high school and served in the Navy and Army during the Korean War. Richard worked many different professions from construction, to therapy aid at the State of New York in Wassaic Developmental Center finishing up in the maintenance department at the Millbrook Prep School before retiring. He was a proud member of the Stockbridge American Legion Post #0400 in GA. He was an avid sports fan who loved the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Richard was a loving husband, father and friend to whomever he came into contact with. Upon retirement Richard and Jean moved to Georgia, where they enjoyed the slow pace of the area. They are members of the Kingsland First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors – camping, fishing, hunting and metal detecting which he did throughout the different States in the Northeast. He loved to listen to blue grass music and dance the night away.
Richard was always a gracious host. He was a modest and generous person with a keen sense of humor and he loved to laugh. No one ever left his home without his kind words of the day. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Riddell is survived by his beloved wife, Jean M. Riddell; his daughter and her husband, Sandra & Anthony Raudis of Prospect, CT.; his sons and their wives’ Wayne & Dawn Riddell of Baltimore, Md. And David & Sarah Riddell of East Hampton, CT.; his sisters Jan Zimmerman of Stoystown, Pa. and Jenny Lou Rogers of Elizabethtown, Pa.; Lois Coleman of Latrobe, PA and his grandchildren, Emma Riddell, Tyler Raudis, Morgan Raudis and Ryan Riddell.
An interment of Mr. Riddell’s cremains will be held at South Fork Cemetery in Cambria County, Pa. in May 2015.
