Richard Kenneth Tyson

Richard Kenneth TysonMr. Richard Kenneth Tyson, age 49 of Woodbine, GA. passed away Thursday, March 20th, 2014 at UF Health in Jacksonville, FL.

Mr. Tyson was born on September 30th, 1964 at Gilman Hospital in Saint Marys, Ga. He is the son of the late June Calvin ‘Dick’ and Ellen Pauline Carter Tyson. He stayed in school until the 10th grade and then decided to enter the workforce. He became a carpenter and self-made electrician.

His brother Darryl said of him, “Anyone that knew Rick knows he liked to stretch the truth from time to time and he liked his drink. He was the brunt of many jokes because of it, but they also knew he was kind hearted, generous, and he loved his family and friends. If I ever needed to know about a family member, Rick would usually know, because he always liked to call just to keep in touch. Though he rarely worried much about money, he would give his last dollar to anyone in need of it and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Some of our most favorite times were with Mom, huddled around the computer playing Scrabble. I could never walk away from it, because he and Mom figured out where the hint button was located. He loved to go camping at Stone Mountain along with fishing and playing pool. He always liked to hear me play the guitar and no matter how out of tune I played, it didn’t matter, because he was usually out of tune as well. Rick struggled with cancer the past few years, but it didn’t stop him from living life the way he wanted to. He wasn’t one to burden others, so I don’t think many knew how sick he actually was, including me. I know he loved God and Jesus and once told me he wasn’t afraid of dying. Please rejoice with me knowing he is no longer in pain. He is now with our heavenly Father and all the family that has gone before him. I love you and will miss you little brother.” He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him best.

Mr. Tyson is survived by his brother, Darryl Tyson of Covington, Ga. and his nieces, Ashley and Alexis.

Besides his parents, Mr. Tyson joins his brother, Kevin in Heaven’s estate.

Memorial services for Mr. Tyson will be Saturday, April 19th, 2014 at Coastal Camden Funeral Home. The family and friends will gather at 1 PM and the service will start at 2 PM.
