Donald Lindie, 72, born June 3, 1941 in Develde Berbice River, Guyana, entered eternal rest in the company of family and loved ones on the morning of February 19, 2014 in Saint Mary’s, GA. He was the son of Lilith Bender Lindie and the late Cedric Lindie.
Donald was a dedicated, excellent Seaman and a courageous Captain who traveled the world for most of his life. He was a patriotic West Indian Cricket fan and he also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing dominoes and reminiscing of his native home Guyana. Above all, he was a dedicated son, husband, father, grandfather and brother. He had a very close relationship with his family and at an early age of fourteen he took on the responsibility of providing for his siblings after his father’s death. He will dearly be missed by them all.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Nelga “Pansy” Lindie; his son, Dale Lindie of Guyana;his daughter, Corrie Bacchus of Guyana; his step-son, Lester Halley of Guyana; his step-daughter, Dallison Halley-Pierce of Maryland; his daughter-in-law, Shairoon Hamid; two son-in-laws, Donald Bacchus of Guyana and Daniel Pierce of Maryland; his grandchildren, Jonathan and Makayla Bacchus, Kelen and Christina Lindie, Jewel, Leslyn, Nicholas, and Chris Halley all of Guyana; his mother, Lilith Lindie; his sisters, Marina McRae, Grace Campbell (Sammie Lee), Thelma Lindie, and Lilith Lindie, all of St. Marys; his brothers, Patrick Falconer of Guyana, Cedric Lindie of North Carolina, Edgar Lindie (Sharon) of Canada, Arnold Lindie (Joyce) of Queens, New York, and Oscar “Ralph” Lindie (Anita) of St. Marys; an uncle, Dorick Bender of Guyana; an aunt, Rebecca Jaundoo of Atlanta; and cousins, Merlin, Daisy, Anna Rose, Amelda and a host of others, nieces and nephews and friends.
A visitation will be held Saturday, March 1st, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the funeral service following at the funeral home with Pastor Eddie Conway presiding.
