Mrs. Myrtle Lucille Funderburk, age 82 of Kingsland and St. Marys passed away on the night of Monday, January 20th, 2014 at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick, Ga.
Mrs. Funderburk was born on December 8th, 1931 in the Brookman Community of Brunswick, Ga. She is the daughter of the late Willie Townsend & Mary Lucretia Hamilton Arnett.
Mrs. Funderburk’s family was most important to her. She was always showering them with love and spoiling each one. She enjoyed spending hours visiting with some of her dearest friends, “running their mouths” as she would call it. She spent over 50 years serving the City of Kingsland and held several positions including City Council Woman and finally retiring as the City Clerk. Mrs. Funderburk will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Funderburk is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Joette and Tim Gray of Jacksonville, Fl., Diann and Jimmy Cottle of Jacksonville, Fl. and Terri Jo and Ron Lance of the Browntown community in Kingsland, Ga.; and her granddaughters, Taylor Lance and Melissa Gibson.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Funderburk joins her husband, Heyward Edsel Funderburk in Heaven.
Calling hours for Mrs. Funderburk and the family will be from 6 to 8 PM Friday, January 24th, 2014 in Coastal Camden Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Saturday January 25th, 2014 in the historic sanctuary of Kingsland First United Methodist Church in Kingsland, Ga. with Pastor Chip Strickland presiding. Active pall bearers will be Terry Smith, Robbi King, Chad George, Tyler Peeples, Mark Smith and Mike Weaver. Honorary pallbearers will be Chief Morris Peeples and Howard Davis. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Lawnwood Cemetery in Kingsland, Ga.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Kingsland First United Methodist Church, the National Kidney Foundation, or the donor’s choice in her honor.
