David Francis KennedyDavid Francis Kennedy, age 50 of Woodbine, GA. passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 3rd, 2014 at Southeast Georgia Health System’s Camden Campus in St. Marys, GA.

David Kennedy was born in Washington DC on March 19th, 1963. He is the son of William Edward Kennedy and Deborah Ann Walsh Kennedy. David grew up on a small farm in Maryland were he raised animals and worked on a nearby dairy farm. His love of the outdoors contributed to his enjoyment of water skiing, hunting, fishing and crabbing in later life. In his youth, David actively participated in the Boy Scouts of America where he was elected a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was most proud of attending the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.

David enjoyed traveling to many places and lived with his parents and siblings in Australia and England. While in England, he graduated from the Department of Defense High School at High Wyckham. David was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army where he served with distinction. After settling in Camden County, GA he became known to many via his community activities. As a professional photographer, he was actively involved in community sports and was an avid fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Georgia Bulldogs and the Camden County Wildcats. He was dedicated to the work of The Miracle League of Camden County serving special needs youth.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Sherrie Simpson Kennedy and his devoted son, Stephen Connly Kennedy of Woodbine, GA. He is also survived by his mother Deborah Ann Kennedy of Stevensville, MD and father William Edward (Carolyn Ann) Kennedy of New Market, MD; his sisters, Maureen Ann (Konrad Alt) Kennedy of Piedmont, CA, Theresa Grace (Edward) Rourke of Holland, PA; his brothers, Kevin Patrick (Katherine) Kennedy of Miami, FL, Michael William (Patricia) Kennedy of Yorktown, VA, John Timothy (Anne) Kennedy of Ellicott City, MD, Paul Edward (Barbara) Kennedy of Minneapolis, MN, Daniel Joseph (Kendra) Kennedy of Haymarket, VA, and Matthew James (Jennifer) Kennedy of Highland, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours for Mr. Kennedy will be from 5 to 6 pm Tuesday, January 7th, 2014 at Coastal Camden Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow there at 6:15 pm with Pastor Steven Smith presiding. Inurnment with military honors will be rendered at Jacksonville National Cemetery on Friday, February 7th, 2014.
