Mr. John Randall ”Lil John” Dowling, age 52 of Kingsland, passed away unexpectedly in Savannah, Ga. on December 23rd, 2013.
Mr. Dowling was born on December 8th, 1961 in Waycross, Ga. He is the youngest son of Randall & June Caroline Lynn Dowling. Mr. Dowling is a 1980 graduate of Ware County High School in Waycross, Ga. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy and served aboard the USS Constellation.
On September 27th, 1991, Mr. Dowling married the love of his life, Diane Swords in Kingsland, Ga. and they have shared, love and raised a family for over 22 years. With the completion of his honorable military service, Mr. Dowling became a service technician with Atlanta Gas Light, retiring in 2004 with 15 years of service. He served as Secretary/ Treasurer for the Camden County Wildcat Band Boosters in 1997-1998. Mr. Dowling was a proud member of the Legacy Vets for 11+ years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a dearly loved friend. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him best.
Mr. Dowling is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Dowling; his daughters, Nicole Dowling and Ashley (Joshua) House all of Kingsland; his sons, Thomas (Amanda A. Young) Blalock and Steven (Rebel) Blalock all of Kingsland; his parents, Caroline and Randall Dowling of Woodbine; his brothers, Bill (Vida) Dowling of Savannah and Richard Dowling of Jacksonville, Fl.; his grandchildren, Brianna Dowling, Erica, Roehn & Kolten House, Reese, Ava & George Blalock, Jr. all of Kingsland, and Alisa Blalock of Fayetteville, NC. Mr. Dowling joins his sister in law, Joann Dowling in Heaven.
Memorial services will be held at 12 noon, Sunday, December 29th, 2013 in the Wainwright Chapel in Coastal Camden Funeral Home in Kingsland, with Chaplain Fred Higgins presiding. After the service, Mr. Dowling’s cremains will be escorted to the locale of the Viet Nam Vets/ Legacy Vets Motorcycle Club in Kingsland, where military honors will be rendered by the club members.
