Ms. Charlotte Juliann Bartzack, age 75 of the Osprey Cove community in Saint Marys, Ga. passed away on the afternoon of Monday, October 7th, 2013 at her residence.
Ms. Bartzack was born on October 4th, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan. She is the daughter of the late John Frank and Domasia Boinski Bartzack. After high school, Ms. Bartzack pursued her Ph.D and was bestowed her doctorate from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. She became director of Detroit Receiving Hospital and also for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. Later, she came to Camden County and has been a resident for the past 14 years. Her friend, Elaine R. Powierski shared of Ms. Bartzack, “If you had to use only one word to describe Charlotte – and what a challenge that would be – that word would be ‘passionate.’
Throughout her life, that passion found voice in everything she did: her friendships, loyalties, work, her many volunteer activities, and her joyful pursuit of adventure. She was equally as passionate in her love of animals, her delight in traveling to new places, her unending thirst for knowledge and her dedication to justice. There were so many things she loved to do and she embraced them all with the same enthusiasm, whether it was shopping, golfing, cooking, enjoying good food, photography or learning to wood-carve. To know Charlotte was to stand in awe at her energy, curiosity, honesty and ability to live life to the fullest. Charlotte found spirituality in the beauty of God’s gifts to us and she poured her heart and soul into everything she did.
She generously gave her time and effort to her community and, by doing so, she touched – and changed – the lives of countless people. In spite of repeated bouts of cancer over the course of the years, Charlotte never complained or became discouraged. There was no part of her that would tolerate bitterness or despair. Instead, she accepted that this was part of her journey, and she took full advantage of every moment given to her on this earth. Charlotte faced her final days with the same extraordinary grace, unquenchable passion and incomparable sense of humor that guided her throughout her life.” She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Ms. Bartzack is survived by her companion and friend, Elaine R. Powierski of St. Marys; her cousins, Cheryl Schornack and her daughter, Sarah of Westland, Michigan and Robert Schornack, his wife, Liz and their children, Hunter and Rose of Plymouth, Michigan.
