Mr. James Arthur Church, age 78 of the Vacuna Road community in Kingsland, Ga., passed away unexpectedly at his residence.
Mr. Church was born in Johnson City, NY on October 31st, 1934. He is the son of the late Frank Victor Church and Eva Mae Church. Mr. Church enlisted in the US Army and served one tour in Panama. Upon separation from the US Army he returned to Johnson City, NY, where he met and married the former Judith A. Allen. In 1963 Mr. Church and his family moved to St. Petersburg, FL, and later, purchased a home in Clearwater, FL. Mr. Church was employed for several years at the Merita Bread Bakery of Pinellas Park, FL.
In mid-life he changed careers and became an interstate truck driver with routes throughout the United States and Canada. After many years on the road Mr. Church was hired by United Truckmaster Inc. as a driver instructor and was promoted to Lead Instructor responsible for Truckmaster Inc. Driver Training School at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa. Sadly, Mr. and Mrs. Church divorced in 1993. After retiring Mr. Church moved to Kingsland, GA, to be closer to his son, James A. Church. While battling health issues he spent his remaining years quietly in Kingsland.
Mr. Church is survived by his daughter, Janet A. Willison and her husband Donald in Culleoka, Tn.; his sons, James Allen Church of Kingsland, Jonathan Arthur Church and his wife Yvonne of Stafford, Va. and Jay Addison Church and his wife Azumi of Henderson, NV.; his grandchildren, James Michael and Stephen Andrew Church of Kingsland, Thomas Church of Dunedin, Fl., Jennifer Church of Richmond, Va. And Nicholas Church of Stafford, VA.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
