Julie Ann Parks Dowdy, age 59 of Woodland Way in Kingsland, passed away on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 8th, 2013 at her residence of pancreatic cancer.
Mrs. Dowdy was born on November 13th, 1953 in Junction City, Kansas. She is the daughter of the late Everett Levi and Charlotte Elaine Morris Parks, Jr. Julie was a caring mother, loving wife, and a strong, dependable sister. She was known as “Graham Cracker” to her grandchildren. She managed to raise her younger brothers at such a young age after the passing of their mother. Soon she met an amazing man, Lloyd and started a family of her own. She lived a wonderful, full life from the beautiful oceans of Panama City to the majestic mountains of Colorado, to the flat lands of Kansas. She loved to read (and snack) and it seemed there wasn’t a song in the world she didn’t know the lyrics to, especially Happy birthday. She never forgot a birthday and ensured she was the first to sing to you with that 6 a.m. birthday call. Her family and friends meant the world to her and they will never forget such an amazing woman. She is resting now in heaven with all her loved ones that she never forgot and watching over us today. “May you always have a shell in your pocket, and sand in your shoes.”
Mrs. Dowdy is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Turner of Kingsland and Shannon Conway and husband Steven of St. Marys; her sisters and their husbands, Cindy and Tom Tarrell of Roseville MI and Kathy and Randy Garcia of Wakefield, KS; her brothers, Terry Lee and his wife Beth Parks and William Balfore Parks all of Englewood, CO. and David Wayne and his wife Bonnie Parks of Jacksonville, FL; her grandchildren, Charlotte Dowdy, Sarah Turner, Alexis Conway, Stevie Conway, Nicky Turner, Christopher Turner, Andrew Turner, Anthony Turner, Jr., Ryan Flockerzi, Dalton Conway; and her great grandchildren, Caleb Allen, Brandon Caldwell, Ivy Turner, Destiny Turner and Anthony Wayne Turner, III. Besides her parents, Mrs. Dowdy is preceded in passing by her husband, Lloyd Allen Dowdy, her sisters, Sharon and Sharol Parks, her brother, Timothy Everett Parks, and her son in law, Anthony Wayne Turner.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 1 to 3 PM Saturday, May 11th, 2013 at 24 Woodland Way in Kingsland. Memorialization will be by cremation.
The family requests contributions in her honor to be made to the funeral home to help retire the cost of her funeral services.
