Benny L Cleghorn, Sr.

Benny L Cleghorn, Sr.Mr. Benny L. Cleghorn, Sr. age 70 of Kingsland, Georgia, passed away Monday, October 15th, 2012 at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick Georgia.
Mr. Cleghorn was born near Fitzgerald, Georgia on December 8th, 1941. He is the son of the late Herbert Lee and Emmy Alma Owens Cleghorn. Mr. Cleghorn graduated from Georgia Tech with a Civil Engineering degree and was the President of Gate Concrete Products. Mr. Cleghorn was wed to Linda J. Crosby on March 14th, 1964 at the Kingsland First United Methodist Church and they have shared 48 years of life and love together. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Mr. Cleghorn is survived by his beloved wife, Mrs. Linda C. Cleghorn; his children, Marla Cleghorn of Bradenton, Fl. and Ben Cleghorn, Jr. and his wife Lorin of Jacksonville, Fl.; his grandsons, Parker and Logan Cleghorn; his sister, Ann Mitchell of Jacksonville, Fl.; his brother, HL Cleghorn of Fitzgerald, Ga. and several nephews and a niece.

Calling hours for Mr. Cleghorn will be held from 6 to 8 PM Thursday, October 18th, 2012 in the old historic sanctuary at Kingsland First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Cleghorn’s funeral services will begin at 11 AM Friday, October 19th, 2012 in the new sanctuary of Kingsland First United Methodist Church. Rev. FJ Beverly will preside over the service with Pastor Chip Strickland and Brother Paul DuPree assisting. The interment will follow the service at 1 PM in the Oaklawn Cemetery mausoleum; 4801 San Jose Blvd. in Jacksonville, Fl. Pallbearers will be Kurt Treece, Tommy Sailors, Bo Mitchell, Gary Lackey, Chris Cleghorn and Brent Cleghorn. Honorary pallbearer will be Roscoe Mullis.

Due to the flower policies of the cemetery, the family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made in Mr. Cleghorn’s memory to either the Kingsland First United Methodist Church building fund, 120 East William Street, Kingsland, Ga.31548 or to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway in Brunswick, Ga. 31525.
