Daniel Paul SmithMr. Daniel Paul Smith, age 53 of Kingsland, Ga. passed away in the evening hours of Tuesday, May, 22nd, 2012 at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick.

Mr. Smith was born in San Antonio, Texas on June 3rd, 1958. He is the son of Rev. Charles Eddie and Lois Smith and the late Caroline Ann Crank Smith. Mr. Smith is a 1976 graduate of Pittsburg High School in Pittsburg, OK. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and attained the rank of Sergeant. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard and became an officer obtaining the rank of Major. During this time, Mr. Smith also worked as a correctional officer at Big Mac/Oklahoma State Prison. Mr. Smith’s unit was activated and he served overseas during Desert Storm helping in the Liberation of Kuwait. He became an over the road truck driver in November of 1994. Mr. Smith married Henni Inge Münter in Eureka Springs, Ark. on June 1st, 1997 and they have traveled life’s roads together for over 14 years. He and Henni drove as a trucking team until November 2007 when health issues forced Henni to retire. Mr. Smith was a truck driving instructor as well and continued driving until a debilitating road accident ended his career in October 2008. Mr. Smith loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Mr. Smith was a strong Christian advocate, participating as a chaplain for Truckstop Ministries, the KAIROS Prison Ministry, the Celebrate Recovery Program in the Woodbine Gounty Jail and the Walk to Emmaus. He and Henni are members of the Kingsland First Baptist Church, where he enjoyed helping with the Wednesday night church suppers and lending a helping hand where he was needed. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him best.

Mr. Smith is survived by his beloved wife, Henni Inge Smith of Kingsland; his parents, Rev. Charles E. Smith, Sr. and Lois of Grove, Ok.; his sons, Daniel Paul Smith, Jr. and Jessie of Hominy, Ok., Gary Michael Teleky and Rochelle of St. Marys and Robert Earl Teleky of Kingsland; his sisters, Donna Harrison and John of Missoula, Mo., and Crystal Nevel and Ben of Glenville, Ok.; his brothers, Brian Bell of Spokane, Wa., Charles E. Smith, Jr. and Terri of Ft. Smith, Ark. and Terry Roland and Najwa of McAlester, Ok.; his grandchildren, Jazzlyn, Destiny and Gavin Smith, Crystal, Inge and Brittany Teleky, John Wallace, Creighton and Safiaya Hoskins, and Amber Nickles; and his great grandchildren, Natalia Hoskins and Matthew Swisher.

Calling hours for Mr. Smith will be held from 6 to 8 PM Friday, May 25th, 2012 in the Wainwright Chapel of the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, May 26th, 2012 in the Worship Center at Kingsland First Baptist Church with Pastor John Jenkins and Rev. Charles E. Smith, Sr. presiding. Mr. Smith will have a private family interment at the Jacksonville National Cemetery in Jacksonville, Fl.
