Mr. Henry Gobin Rowell, age 63 of Kingsland, Ga. passed away late Thursday night, April 26th, 2012 at Baptist Medical Center in Fernandina Beach, Fl.
Mr. Rowell was born on June 03, 1948 in Birmingham, Alabama. He is the son of the late Raymond J. and Evelyn Hughes Rowell. Mr. Rowell is the husband of the Doris Jean Batts Rowell. Henry grew up in Birmingham, Alabama with two older brothers and two younger sisters. He loved building model cars and collecting coins and spent his summers running wild in Harrison Park. He graduated from West End High School in 1966. Henry spent the next 20 years working in the restaurant field, mostly cooking, and then decided he was ready for a change. He started driving trucks and loved being able to travel all over the country. Henry was a loving, generous man with a heart of gold. His mother always said Henry was the most peaceful soul she ever knew. Henry loved cooking, golf, and traveling but his family was the most important thing to him. He kept in close contact with all of them and especially loved seeing everyone at the bi-annual family reunions. He was completely devoted to his two beagles and koi fish and spent a lot of time doting on them.
Mr. Rowell is survived by his wife; Doris Jean Rowell; his brothers, Llewellyn (Jerry) Rowell of Atlanta and Lawson (Stephanie) Maxwell of Kingsland , Ga; his sisters, Evelyn (Fred) Kelley and Kathy (Ricky) Boyd of Birmingham, Alabama; his two puppies, Bella and Tessa and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews.
Besides his parents, Mr. Rowell was preceded in passing by his brother, Raymond Rowell.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 30, 2012 at 7 pm to 9 pm in the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at a later date at St. Marks United Methodist Church in Vestavia, Alabama.
