Eugene Wilson Murray, Jr.Mr. Eugene Wilson Murray, Jr., age 68 of Woodbine, Ga. passed on to walk with Jesus on Saturday March 3, 2012 at the Southeast Georgia Health Systems Camden Campus.

Mr. Murray was born on August 27th, 1943 in Charleston SC. He is the son of Eugene Wilson Murray, Sr and Blanch Edwards Murray. Mr. Murray was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was married February 3rd, 1967 in Brunswick, Ga. to Miss Joenell Sellars and they have shared forty-five years of life and love together. Mr. Murray retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of serving his country with pride and honor.

fter retirement from the navy, Mr. Murray worked 10 years as an electrician at Gilman Paper Company. He also owned and operated the Court House Café in Woodbine, Ga. for 3 years. Mr. Murray’s favorite job was driving trucks. He loved to travel and meet new people. He never met a stranger. Mr. Murray loved to spend time with his family and playing golf. He was a member of the VFW and Woodsmen of the World. Mr. Murray was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Kingsland Ga. Mr. Murray is at peace and the family gives God all the praise and glory that he will suffer no more.

Mr. Murray is survived by his beloved wife, Joenell Murray of Woodbine; his children, Eugene “Gene” Wilson Murray III (Melinda Kay) of Woodbine, and Karen Denise Murray of Woodbine; his sister, Donna Swart of Charleston, SC; his grandchildren, Mandy Jo Howard (Dustin) and Kayla Ann Murray (Jordon); his great-grandchild, Riley Elizabeth Copeland, Daylin Hugh Howard, and June Roxanna Grace Howard; his nieces, Kathy Schoap and Joyce Blaylock of Charleston, SC and nephews, Mike Swart and Larry Swart of Charleston, SC.

Calling hours for Mr. Murray will be from 6 to 8 PM Monday, March 5th, 2012 in the Wainwright Chapel at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Tuesday, March 6th, 2012 in the Wainwright Chapel at the funeral home. Presiding will be Pastor John Jenkins. Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Carlos Levy, William Coon, Billy Lindsey, Pete Sellers, Edward Canday, and Jay Cobb.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to Heartland Hospice or the mission at First Baptist Church in Kingsland.
