Mrs. Alice Maurine Czarnecke, age 88 of St. Marys, Ga. passed away early morning Friday, December 9th, 2011 at Southeast Georgia Health System’s Camden Campus in St. Marys.
Mrs. Czarnecke was born in Crestview, Florida on November 18th, 1923. She is the daughter of James I. and Emma Teale Jernigan. Mrs. Czarnecke spent the majority of her life residing in Ocoee, Florida (just west of Orlando). She graduated from Ocoee High School, where she was a star athlete on the girl’s basketball team. She was married for 19 years to Edward H. Czarnecke, who passed away in 1968. Mrs. Czarnecke was a hairdresser most of her life, returning later in life to school to become a certified nursing assistant. She was a long time, passionate fan of the Florida Gators, spending many Saturdays watching them play football through the years.
Mrs. Czarnecke is survived by her children, Diane Lodmell of Woodbine, Ed (Kerry) Czarnecke of Kingsland and Donna (Edwin) Cortez of Orlando, Fl.; her grandchildren, Ken Sandell of Cheyenne, Wy., Patty Robertson of Orlando, Fl., Eddie Czarnecke of Hiawassee, Ga., Robert Czarnecke of Hayesville, NC, Billy Czarnecke of Orlando, Fl., Erik Lodmell of Jacksonville, Fl., and Alexandra Lodmell of Woodbine; and her 12 great grandchildren.
Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Czarnecke is preceded in passing by her son, James Czarnecke and her sister, Clyde Anderson.
Private family memorial services are to be held at a later date.
