Mr. King David Harris, Sr. age 73 of Kingsland, Ga. passed away on the afternoon of Friday, October 21, 2011 at Shands Community Hospice in Jacksonville, Fl.
Mr. Harris was born in Charlton County, Ga. on April 3rd, 1938. He is the son of the late Riley and Harriet Lake Harris. Mr. Harris was a dedicated employee of Kraft Bag and Gilman Paper Company in St. Marys, with over 30 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Harris also enjoyed gardening, with particular devotion to growing prize tomatoes. His children spoke of him as a loving father. He will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.
Mr. Harris is survived by his devoted children, Vicki Harris Powell of Kingsland and K. David (Chasity) Harris, Jr. of Fernandina Beach, Fl.; his dear siblings, Helen (Floyd) Sikes of Jacksonville, Fl., and Carl and Walstein Harris of Hilliard, Fl.; his precious grandchildren, Skyler Henderson of Kingsland, Tyler Henderson of Brunswick, Rileigh Harris and Autumn Shrout both of Fernandina Beach, Fl.; and his darling great grandchildren, Jordan Deen and Jaedan Henderson both of Kingsland. Besides his parents, Mr. Harris is preceded in passing by his brother. Curtis V. Harris.
Calling hours for Mr. Harris will be from 7 to 9 PM Monday, October 24th, 2011 at the funeral home. Funeral services will start at 3 PM Tuesday, October 25th, 2011 graveside at Bethlehem Cemetery in Brantley Co. with Pastor Seymour Groover, III presiding.
