Anna Marie Young, 86 of St. Marys, GA, (formerly of Yorktown Heights, NY) went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011.
She was born October 23rd, 1924 in Staten Island, NY. She was the daughter of the late Anna Marie and Herbert Clayton Jones. She was preceded in death by her brothers Herbert and Lawrence Jones.
After her loving and devoted husband of 53 years, Frederick W. Young passed away in 1996 Anna moved from Delray Beach, FL to St. Marys to reside with her daughter Betty and husband Bill Spagna. She quickly became an active member of the community. She was a member of the St. Marys United Methodist Church and Wesley Bible Class; member of the Newcomers Club; served as a volunteer with the Camden Campus Auxiliary and was recognized in 2010 as a Life Member for her years of service; was a member of the “Off Your Rockers” exercise group; enjoyed painting with the Camden Art League; and was a member of the St. Marys Senior Center. She had many friends wherever she went and loved all of them dearly.
Anna loved and cherished her family. Anna is survived by her beloved daughters, Betty (William) Spagna of St. Marys and Diana Hauser of Chamblee, GA; grandsons, William (Suzanne) Spagna of San Rafael, CA, Steven (Teresa) Spagna of Huntington, WV, Douglas (Bill) Hauser of Tucker, GA, and Scott and (Irasema) Hauser of Tulsa, OK; and great grandchildren, Courtney and Anna Spagna, and Emiliano Hauser. She was looking forward to the January arrival of a new great grandson. Anna is also survived by several dear nieces and nephews.
Anna was very dearly loved by her family and friends. Everyone who knew her will remember her beautiful white hair, her smile and positive attitude. Everyone who knew “Granny” will have a void in their lives with her passing. She will always be remembered in our hearts.
Per Mrs. Young’s wishes, private family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the St. Marys United Methodist Church, Attn: Youth Group, 105 E. Conyers Street, St. Marys, GA 31558 and Heartland Hospice, 664 Scranton Road, Unit 103/ Brunswick, Georgia 31520.
