Mr. Charles Morgan Cox, 82 of St. Marys and Brunswick passed away in the early evening of Tuesday, May 31st, 2011 at Magnolia Manor in St. Marys.
Mr. Cox was born on July 27th, 1928 in Birmingham, Al.. He is the son of the late Cleon Morgan and Anna Bigalsky Cox. Mr. Cox attended Kingsland High School. He went into the Navy at the age of 17 and served from 1945-1949. He worked at the Southeast Georgian Newspaper office in Kingsland, and then attended Tool and Die School in Chicago. From there he went to Automotive School in Brunswick, and later worked at Sea Pak Shrimp Factory and then with Sea Harvest until his retirement. Mr. Cox lived in Brunswick, Georgia until 2007 when he moved to St. Marys, Georgia to Magnolia Manor where he resided until his passing.
Mr. Cox is survived by his children, Evelyn Cox of Lakeside, Ca., Charles Morgan Cox, Jr. of Waycross, Ga., Joyce Mae Rooks of Waynesville, Ga., Mildred Charlene Cox of Oklahoma City, Ok., Mary Ruth Riggins of St. Marys, Ga., and Carolyn Vernice Brock of Oklahoma City, Ok; his siblings, Colquitt (Louise) Cox of Decatur,Al., Mimi Hardy of Mentone, Al.; thirteen grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Mr. Cox was preceded in passing by his wife, Lillian D. Cox, his brothers, James Cox, Benny Cox, Cleon Cox, Jr. and his sister Pat Ott.
Calling hours for Mr. Cox will be from 6 to 8 pm Friday, June 3rd, 2011 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, June 4th, 2011 in the Wainwright Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor JoeRiggins presiding. The pallbearers will be Clifton Cox, Stacy Riggins, Russell Brock, Danny Riggins, Ricardo Arreola, and Mickey Holton. Committal services will follow in Oakwell Cemetery in Kingsland.
