Ms. Judy Paris Asbell, 67 of Brunswick passed away at her residence Sunday, February 20, 2011 surrounded by her family.
Ms. Asbell was born in Camp Blanding Florida, on June 12th, 1943. She is the daughter of the late Charles Norman, Sr. & Claudine Butler Paris. She grew up in Perry, Fl, and after graduating high school, she married Rick Asbell, her husband of 27 years. She lived in Atlanta before moving to Brunswick in 1971, where she became a fixture on the town‘s south end and was known fondly as “Mama Judy.” Along with being a homemaker, she worked at Mock’s IGA, American National Bank and Barnett Bank. She became a unit coordinator at Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center and retired in 2008. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting and working with miniatures.
Ms. Asbell is survived by her adoring children, Tinker (Jeannie) Asbell and Robert (Candy) Asbell, both of Brunswick; her sister Esther (Ron) Smith of Amarillo, TX; her brothers, Gene Paris of Indianapolis, IN.’ Charles N. “Buddy” Paris, Jr. and Earl Paris, both of Perry, FL., and Richard David (Sue ) Paris of Terre Haute, IN., her grandson, Adam Manning of Brunswick; her nephew, Russell Paris and niece Tana Duplechan, plus a host of other nieces and nephews; her caretakers, Lori Rowe and Eddie Powell, and her best friend, Phyllis Beaumier. Besides her parents, Ms. Asbell was preceded in passing by her sister, Peggy McNutt and her beloved granddaughter, Tori Asbell.
A service of remembrances will be held at 3 PM Thursday, February 24th, 2011 at The Chapel on Harris Farm Road in Brunswick, with Pastor Jay Hanson presiding. The interment will be held privately at a later date.
