Mr. Joseph Paul (Skip) Harvey, Sr. 81 of Kingsland passed away Tuesday, February 15th, 2011 at the South East Georgia Health System’s Brunswick Campus.
Mr. Harvey was born in Miami, Florida on January 16th, 1930. He is the son of the late Joseph Carl and Katherine Juanita Cottle Harvey. Mr. Harvey retired in 1994 from Gilman Paper Company after 39 years of faithful service working in the power plant. During his retirement he worked at Winn Dixie as well as Wal-Mart. He also loved to minister to the residents of St. Marys Convalescent Center, whose residents fondly remember him as the candy man.
Mr. Harvey is survived by his wife Coralee A. Harvey of Kingsland; his children, Juanita (Randy) Douglas and Jewel M. Harvey, both of Woodbine, Joseph Harvey Jr., of Kingsland; his step-children, Edna Spikes of St. Marys, Judy Barton and Donnie Cooper, all of Kingsland; his brother Peter C.(Ann) Harvey of Eulonia; his 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Harvey was preceded in passing by his step-daughter Annette Privette; his sister, Bonnie G. Crews and his brothers, Bo Groover, Bill Harvey and James Harvey.
Calling hours for the Harvey family will be from 6 to 8 PM, Friday, February 18th, 2011 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held graveside at 11 AM Saturday, February 19th, 2011 in Temple Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastors Rev Nell Bennett and Dr. Jody Davis presiding. Special music will be preformed by Clifton Roberson at graveside. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons.
