Mr. Howard Franklin Jones, Sr., 84 of Kingsland passed away late Saturday evening December 18, 2010 at the Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick.
Mr. Jones was born in Raleigh, North Carolina on July 3, 1926. He is the son of the late Jesse and Etta Hardison Jones. Mr. Jones family moved to Washington DC when he was 13. He lived there until he joined the US Army and was sent to fight in Europe in January 1945. After WWII, Mr. Jones was a part of the Allied Occupation Forces in Germany. Later, he became a civilian, but reentered the service for the Korean Conflict and chose to remain until his retirement in 1965. He married Jeannette Genevieve Pajor in Maxiville, France on October 23, 1954 and they have shared 56 years of life and love together. After his military duty, he became the owner of the Arnold Bread Company’s route for Suitland, MD and retired there in 1984. He has been a resident of Kingsland for the last 16 years. Mr. Jones loved to spend time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
Mr. Jones is survived by his beloved wife, Jeannette G. Jones of Kingsland; his daughters, Patricia Marie (Robert) Edson of San Carlos, CA. and Debbie Ann (Michael) Pierce of Bluffton, SC; his son, Howard Jones, Jr. of Kingsland; his sister, Marge Mozingo of Crofton, MD and his brother Jesse Jones, Jr. of Orange Co. CA.; his 5 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in passing by his sisters, Josephine Mitchum, Ruth Doty, Martha Stanley, Mary McKenna and Barbara White.
Private funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, December 22, 2010 in the Wainwright Chapel at the funeral home with Pastor Norman Mosier presiding. Interment will follow at 12:30 pm in the Jacksonville National Cemetery with full military honors.
