Mrs. Ruby Nadine Strickland, 85 of St. Marys passed away early Thursday, November 25th, 2010 at the St. Marys Senior Care Center.
Mrs. Strickland was born in Horton, Alabama on September 20th, 1925. She is the daughter of the late Alex and Viola Johns Little. Mrs. Strickland was married to Ruben Strickland in Alabama on September 30th, 1946 and they shared 37 years of life and love together until his passing in 1983. Mrs. Strickland worked at Seapac in Brunswick for a time, but later settled into domestic life as a housewife. She was an avid gardener and loved to do her own yard work. Her family said she was very independent. Mrs. Strickland was of the Pentecostal faith.
Mrs. Strickland is survived by her sister, Wilma Isom of Cullman, Al.; her grandchildren, Rebecca Byrd of Brunswick, and Amy Huggins and Larry Wayne Strickland, Jr. both of Folkston; her 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Strickland was preceded in passing by her son, Larry W. Strickland, Sr. and her sister, Irene Warren.
Calling hours for Mrs. Strickland will be from 6 to 8 pm Saturday, November 27th, 2010 at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held graveside at 2 pm Sunday, November 28th, 2010 at Homeward Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Drury, Alan Krobyn, Michael Wilson, Leon Wilson, Robert Strickland, David Strickland Daniel Strickland, and Anthony Strickland. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Taylor, Don Butler and Paul Drury.
