Mr. Seymour Jackson Groover, II, 68 of the Browntown Community passed away from accidental injuries sustained on Saturday, September 4th, 2010.
Mr. Groover is a native of Camden County, Ga. and was born in Kingsland on April 28th, 1942. He is the son of the late Seymour Jackson “George” and Tassie Mae Allen Crews Groover, Sr. and is a life long resident of Kingsland. Mr. Groover married his sweetheart, Brenda Woods Groover on November 21st, 1964 and they have shared 45 years of love and laughter together. Mr. Groover was a member of the US Army, honorably serving in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968. Afterwards, he came home to work for Gilman Paper Company for 23 years and then on Kings Bay Naval Base for ten years. He served his Lord and Master daily and will be missed for the thousands he made smile.
Mr. Groover is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda Woods Groover of Browntown; his daughters Robin (Bert) O’born of St. Marys and Roxanne Groover of Kingsland; his son Seymour J. (Mandy) Groover, III of Kingsland; his sisters Ida Mae (Harold) Thrift of Kingsland, Jeanette (George) Banning of Jacksonville, Fl., Carolyn (Marcus)Agrizonaun of Winokur; Georgette (Richard) Adams of Los Angeles, Ca. and Mary Jane Burch of Blackshear; his step mother, Ella Roberts; and the joys of his life, his grandchildren, Santana (Jeremy) Johnson, Courtney (Donnie) Parrish, Kristen (CJ) Lane, Josh (Ashley) Groover, Austin Groover Sharon O’born, Heather O’born and Carie O’born and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by his parents, his step-father, Carroll Crews and his sister, Joan Smith (Clarence)
Calling hours for Mr. Groover will be from 6 to 8 pm, Thursday, September 9th, 2010 at the Browntown Baptist Church.
Funeral services will also be held at the Browntown Baptist Church at 11 am, Friday, September 10th, 2010 with Pastor Bobby Russell presiding. Pallbearers will be Josh Groover, Jeremy Johnson, Austin Groover, Donnie Parrish, CJ Lane and Coleman Groover.
