Marcelo Joseph Benavides, 60, of Kingsland, passed away at the Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick on Friday, May 28th, 2010.
Mr. Benavides was born on October 29th, 1949 in Queens, New York. He is the son of the late Marcelo and Raphaela Molina Benavides. Mr. Benavides was an exceptional father and husband who taught values through laughter and prayer. As a father, he taught his children to live life with significance, and to cherish life in good and bad circumstances. Mr. Benavides enjoyed bowling, chess, chocolate and the good times spent with family and close friends. Anyone that knew him will always remember his smile.
Mr. Benavides is survived by his beloved wife, Glomary Benavides of Kingsland; his daughter, Cynthia Levette Benavides (Edwin Ruiz) of Kingsland; his son, Marcelo Benavides III of Moyock, NC; his sisters, Lourdes, (Joe) Romero, Carmen (Dale) King, and Grace (Julio) Rivera, all of Newport News, VA; his grandchildren, Galen Benavides, Claudia Benavides, Bryana Ruiz, Haley Benavides, Edwin Ruiz, and Marcelo Benavides IV and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents, Mr. Benavides was preceded in death by his brother, Peter A. Benavides.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 1st, 2010 at Coastal Camden Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010 in the Wainwright Chapel at the funeral home with Reverend F. Ray Turner presiding. Pallbearers will be Marcelo Benavides, Jason Ramos, Alex Ramos, Mandy Gonzales, Edwin Ruiz, Eddie Rivera, and John Gonzales.
