Genevieve Arlene GrangerMrs. Genevieve Arlene Granger, 78 of Kingsland, Ga. passed away at her residence, Monday, December 7th, 2009.

Mrs. Granger is a native of Wilcox County, Georgia. She was born on November 23rd, 1931 and is the daughter of the late Charlie Melton and Pearlie Mae Coleman Guy. Mrs. Granger was a dutiful mother and house wife. Her family jovially remarked of sternness and loving kindness being equally applied by her. She was married to Rufus Bernard Granger on September 28th, 1948 and they spent 45 years of life and love together until his passing in 1997. They were both avid gardeners and often engaged their daughters to weed and pick both vegetables and blackberries for canning. Many days were spent feeding various family and friends for lunch at their home. Genevieve was also an able seamstress and crocheted with great skill. She was affiliated with the Westside Baptist Church in St. Marys for many years. Mrs. Grangers passing marks the last of the Guy children, but her loving, gentle ways continues through the children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Granger is survived by her daughters; Opal (Robert) Darby of Kingsland and Faye (Norman) Ard of St. Marys; her grandchildren, Lori Combs, Josh (Theresa) Combs, Renee Crews, Charlie (Heather) Darby, Kris Daniels, Robin Horne, Kristy Gayle (Scott) Roten, Leslie (Eric) Niessner, and Duane Bruce; plus a host of 11 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Granger mourned the loss of her daughter Brenda Daniels, last June.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday, December 9th, 2009 at the funeral home.

The funeral service will be held at 11 AM Thursday December 10th, 2009 in the old chapel at Kingsland First Baptist Church with Pastors’ Rick Brody and John Jenkins presiding. The casket bearers will be Duane Bruce, Josh Combs, Scott Roten, Charlie Darby, Steve Granger, Bob Granger and Eric Niessner.
