Lloyd Wilfred MontreuilLloyd W. Montreuil, 95, of St. Marys passed away at his residence on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 15th, 2009, surrounded by his family and caregivers.

Mr. Montreuil was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 29th, 1913. He was the husband of the late Marie Elizabeth Montreuil and son of the late Mr. and Mrs. D. Montreuil.

Lloyd began his 40 year career with the Uniroyal Corporation as a pipe-fitter and retired as the managing director of the international division. A well-read man and aficionado of fine cigars and scotch, Mr. Montreuil was a world traveler whose passion and intellect for sports spanned a century. He was an avid golfer and played minor league baseball in his hometown of Detroit. Lloyd defined second effort.

Lloyd and Marie’s 63 year love affair was compassionate, humorous and profoundly respectful.
His many friends will remember him for his charismatic wit, kind generosity and gentle heart. He was a remarkable man.

Mr. Montreuil is survived by his four children, Linda M. Brooks of St. Marys, Georgia, Carole M. Wangrud, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kathleen M. Olson , of Sacramento, California and Lloyd Montreuil, Jr. (Judith), of Michigan, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 18th, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church of St. Marys with a close family friend, Lucy Hunter speaking.
