Mr. Charles McKinley Teston, Sr., 74 of St. Marys passed away early Friday, July 3rd, 2009 at Shands Hospital Pavilion.
Mr. Teston is a Bacon County native. He was born in Alma, Georgia on March 18th, 1935 and is the son of the late Shonnie and Cleetie Medders Teston. Mr. Teston was a graduate of Glynn Academy High School in Brunswick, Georgia. He served two year in the Air Force as a Ground Radio Repairman. He moved to St. Marys, GA in 1959. Until his retirement, Mr. Teston was employed by Gilman Paper Company as a Paper Tester. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in St. Marys, GA. He was known for his love of fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
Mr. Teston is survived by his wife Dolores Barnard Teston; his three children, Tonya Trawick (Rodney) of Hilliard, FL., Donna Kirkland of Kentucky and Charles “Chuck” Teston, Jr. of St. Marys; his sister Wanda Townsend of Blacksburg, SC; his seven grandchildren, Brooks Joiner, Brandon Joiner, Brittany Davis, Shannon Rodriguez, Brandy Casey, Jake Kirkland, and James Teston; and his two great grandchildren Trace Joiner and Erin Casey. Besides his parents, Mr. Teston was preceded in death by his first wife, Evanglynn ”Vanzie” Teston, his sister, Helen Tucker and his brother, Howard Teston.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8 PM Monday, July 6th, 2009 at the funeral home.
The funeral service was held at 11 AM Tuesday, July 7th, 2009 in the Wainwright Chapel at Coastal Camden Funeral Home (Formerly Edo Miller Funeral Home Camden Chapel). Pastor Fred Woolard and Elder Terry Barnard presided. The casket bearers were Brooks Joiner, Brandon Joiner, Andrew Davis, Jake Kirkland, Brian Casey, and Charles Barnard. Honorary bearers were James Teston and Hector Rodriquez.
Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
