Mrs. Alene Russell, 93 of Kingsland, passed away early Thursday morning, July 2nd, 2009 at her residence.
Mrs. Russell is a Wheeler County, Georgia native. She was born in Alamo on December 2nd, 1915 and is the daughter of the late Clarence P. and Maggie Lee White Perdue. Alene was a long time resident of Kingsland, GA. She graduated from Kingsland High School in 1932 and later attended business school in Jacksonville, FL.
Alene was married to the late Colquitt George Russell. She worked with him in their Chevrolet- Buick dealership.
She is survived by two daughters, Alicia Ellen Rogers (Harold Cecil) of St. Marys and Frances Alene Whiteley (Frank Reynolds, Jr.) of New Orleans; her three grand children, Annmarie Whiteley Gutter, Frank Reynolds Whiteley III, and Harold Cecil Rogers, Jr.; her five great grandchildren, Grant Daniel Gutter, Barrett Frank Gutter, “Chip” Harold Cecil Rogers III, Curt Nelson Rogers and Frank Reynolds Whiteley IV; and one great, great grandchild Xander Channing Gutter. Along with her parents and husband, Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her sister, Moena Perdue Fiveash, and her brothers Clarence Lamar, Walter George and Felton Perdue.
A private funeral service for her immediate family and caregivers was held on Saturday, July 4th, 2009. Interment was at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was blessed with a long and happy life.
