Alice J. Walker, 79 of St. Marys passed away late Thursday evening, February 26, 2009 at Southeast Georgia Health System’s Camden Campus.
Mrs. Walker is a native of Duval County, Florida. She was born in Jacksonville on February 9, 1930 and is the daughter of the late Ray and Rose Baker Collier. She was a graduate of Charlton County High School in 1947 and later that year married James Rabon Walker, Sr. They shared over 54 years of life and love together until his passing in 2002. Both she and her husband worked at the Gilman Paper Plant. She was employed as an invoice manager and later became the switchboard operator. During their lives, her passions included boating, and traveling in their motor home. Her children speak of her as being a loving mother who had an affinity for her grand-dogs. Mrs. Walker was a member of the St. Mary’s United Methodist Church. She will be sadly missed.
Mrs. Walker is survived by her children Judy Alison Walker of Fernandina Beach, FL.; Joseph Graig Walker and James Rabon Walker, Jr., both of Browntown. Along with her parents and husband, Mrs. Walker was also preceded in death by a son, Arthur Kent Walker.
A memorial service was held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at Edo Miller Funeral Home Camden Chapel.
