Daisy Elizabeth Liles Parr, 94, of Kingsland died early Monday, December 8th, 2008 at the Life Care Center in Hilliard, Florida.
Mrs. Parr is a Camden County native. She was born in White Oak, Georgia on June 1st, 1914 to the late Kelly and Daisy Liles. Graduating from Cross City High School in Florida, Mrs. Parr later returned to Georgia, where she worked with the Department of Family and Children’s Services in Brunswick for a time. In 1960 she became the Director of Family and Children’s Services for Camden County, retiring from that position in 1979. Mrs. Parr was a member of the Woodbine Methodist Church. She was a spirited advocate for the disadvantaged, and a great source of wisdom and good humor for her family.
Mrs. Parr is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Jim Shewmaker of Kingsland, and Denise and Paul Scanlin of Amarillo, Texas; her sons and daughters-in-law, Randall and Anne Parr of Brunswick, Tony and Linda Parr of Monroe, and Jack and Cindy Parr of St. Marys; her 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Bernice Coram of Jacksonville, plus several nieces and nephews, including Janis Davis and Joanne Flanagan of Camden County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Parr, in 1984.
A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, December 12th, 2008.
The funeral services will be held graveside at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Homeward Cemetery in Waverly. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Parr, Jr., Jeff Parr, T.J. Parr, Sam Godfrey, and Jack Parr, Jr.
