Geraldine ScottGeraldine T. Scott, 76 of St. Marys passed away the afternoon of Friday, September 26th, 2008 at the Life Care Center of Hilliard surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Scott is a native of Bacon County, Georgia. She was born in Alma on December 5th, 1931 and is the daughter of the late James Archibald Taylor, Sr. and Rosebud Britt Taylor. . Mrs. Scott became a resident of St. Marys in 1971. She was married to Fleming Thomas Scott until his passing in 1996. Mrs. Scott was a food service professional, but mostly a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid fisherwoman and was a member of the Westside Baptist Church in St. Marys. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Mrs. Scott is survived by her children, Brenda W. Rowell of Yulee, Fl., Wanda F. Yeomans (Sam) of Blackshear, Ga., James D. Whitley (Carolyn) of Nichols, Ga., LaVelle C. Whitley of Alma, Ga., Charles E. Whitley (Pam) of Alma, Ga, and Ricky M. Scarborough (Theresa) of Jacksonville, Fl.; her brother, James A. Taylor, Jr. of Jacksonville, Fl.; 24 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, Mrs. Scott was also preceded in death by her children, Donald E., David K. and Randy P. Whitley; her sisters, Ruth Crawford and Laura Taylor; and her brother Harold Taylor.

A visitation was held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday September 29th, 2008 at the funeral home.

The funeral services were held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday at the Westside Baptist Church in St. Marys with Pastor David Forro presiding. The casket bearers were Charlton and Kevin Whitley, Erick and Stevie Moore, Rusty Rowell, and Jamie Taylor.

Interment followed at the Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys, Ga.
