Ann Meeler Faust Rooney

Ann Meeler Faust RooneyAnn Meeler Faust Rooney, 70 of St. Marys passed away early Monday evening April 7th, 2008 after an extended battle with breast cancer. She was at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Ann was born in Brunswick, Georgia on May 9th, 1937 and is the daughter of the late William H. Meeler Sr. and the late Margaret Beard Meeler. Ann was the Valedictorian for the 1955 graduating class of Glynn Academy in Brunswick. After living in Fernandina Beach, and Jacksonville, Florida, she and her husband Tom settled in her dream home in St. Marys, Georgia.

Ann was a vivacious person whose zest for life touched everyone who knew her. She enjoyed reading, painting, fishing, writing personalized poetry and collecting crystals. Ann loved to travel, especially the many fun trips spent abroad with her husband Tom, and with her sisters to Biloxi. Ann loved spending time with her children and their families. Called “Gigi” by her grandchildren, she was considered “the best grandma a kid could ever ask for”. We will treasure our memories of her and she will be forever in our hearts.

Ann is survived by her husband Thomas E. Rooney of St. Marys; her five children, Kerry A. Faust of Jacksonville, Kathy Faust (Blake) Bunnell of Jacksonville, Kurt S.(Tammy) Faust of Jacksonville, Kristi Faust (Louis) Woeller of Jesup, and Christina Rooney (Brian) Putnam of Atlanta; her sisters, Lynette Maassen, Cindy (Charles) Aldridge, and Debbie (Hank) Padgett, all of Brunswick; a brother William H. Meeler, Jr. of St. Augustine; her eight grandchildren: Christopher and Chad Myers, Alicia, Ashley, Anna and Kolby Faust, and Cody and Bailey Bunnell; and her three great grandchildren, Jayden and Madison Myers, and Paityn McCormick.

A visitation was held from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Friday April 11th, 2008 at the funeral home.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM, Saturday in the First Baptist Church of St. Marys with Pastor Steven Kegley presiding. Pallbearers were Kerry and Kurt Faust, Christopher and Chad Myers, Blake Bunnell, Louis Woeller, Hank Padgett, and Charles Aldridge.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to both the North Florida Oncology Group and Hospice of the Golden Isles for the loving care and attention they provided to our beloved Ann.
